Knighthood and the Order of the Knights of St. Thomas More, a recognized order
under the International Alliance of Catholic Knights

In the year of 2000, the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II created Eamonn Fleming "Knight Commander" of the order of St. Gregory.  He is also the  President of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights of which the Knights of St. Thomas More are a member (currently there are 15 orders around the world).

Mr. Mongiello is a Catholic, a Christian and a sinner like all of us in this world.  He chose "not just to pass through" Europe, but to continue to be heavily involved with his faith and people of the world.

Knighthood, being conferred in Belgium, and in Europe, as a whole (for any American) is a distinct memory and privilege.  As a confirmed Catholic, former Altar boy and active parishioner around the world, this has been a highlight.  Whether he was forming "Operation Santa Claus" at Camp David and giving up his entire Christmas day to visit the poor, cooking Thanksgiving dinner for hundreds at his local church in Norfolk, Virginia or making rice cakes for the starving in Japan (yes, there are poor there) he has always done so with local laity of the Catholic church.

The order of St. Thomas More welcomes all confirmed men to attend meetings and join them in good acts to their fellow man, women and children.  Always bearing in mind that no one is perfect in this world and Knighthood does not magically make a man never make a mistake again, in life.  To be a Knight is to stand for the Holy Father, the Catholic Church and Christian beliefs and to help others.  To be a Knight is not to be clothed in white robes or garments swirling around your feet, while wearing glistening armor atop a champion steed.  It's going down to the old folks home and making dinner, it's bringing your weed wacker to the church and cutting the grass with 30 other men because it needs to be done and it's trying, every day, to help someone.

  • Read more about King Albert of the Belgian people and life in Belgium and Europe.
  • Read about he recent marriage of His Royal Highness, Prince Philippe Léopold Louis Marie, Duke of Brabant, Prince of Belgium, Senator, Grand Cordon of the Order of Leopold and  the Honourable Mathilde Marie Christine Ghislaine d'Udekem d'Acoz.  The mass was held at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula, which lies in the heart of the historic centre of Brussels, the capital of Belgium. The "see" of the Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels, currently His Eminence Cardinal Danneels,  read his homily during the marriage mass and you can partake in what was stated, yourself.
  • Visit the Vatican and read about the "Holy See," authorized and recognized observer to the United Nations, His Holiness, the Pope.
