Senator Colomba Mongiello featured from the
Italian Senate. The Italian
Senate consists of 315
elected members, plus a number of appointed life senators and ex
officio life senators. Among the life senators appointed by the
President of the Republic "for outstanding merits in social, scientific,
artistic and literary fields", we can recall such names as orchestra
conductor Arturo Toscanini (who rejected the appointment), poet Eugenio
Montale and playwright Eduardo De Filippo, to mention but a few. Former
Presidents of the Republic are ex officio life senators.
Presently the senators appointed for life by the President of the
Republic are: Giulio Andreotti, Rita Levi Montalcini, Emilio Colombo and
Sergio Pininfarina. Ex officio life senators are former
Presidents of the Republic Francesco Cossiga, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro and
Carlo Azeglio Ciampi...read

he visits Italy yearly and has published a long family history there (in
Italian and English)... All proceeds go to the church in Cassano Irpino

IBM Thinkpad University, SUNY Morrisville
State College, New York and the International Food Service Executives
Association
(IFSEA) welcomed food marketing expert, Martin CJ Mongiello, to speak in April, 2007.
Martin was on hand with his mentor, the Host of NBC TV's "Cooking with
Class" - Frank Terranova. Both had previously met ten years prior
to film a five-part mini-series, on cooking, for Frank's Show.
Terranova continued at Johnson
and Wales University where he is a Professor while Marti lived all over
the world, cooking officially on behalf of the American people in Japan,
Korea, Singapore, Jordan, Bahrain, Dubai, Italy, Hawaii and the capitol
of the European Union, Brussels, Belgium. The two reminisced for students, about the past ten
years, in dual speeches and commented on appearing on stage (together
again) at Foxwoods Casino in 2007. Mongiello also spoke about
serving world leaders and their families as well as his food marketing work
with IGA groceries, COSTCO, Sams and all the way to Korea
and Japan with his wife, Stormy, in 2006/7. Both, also were
tested - for four hours, during their visit, submitted their exams, and
subsequently became Master Certified Food Executives (MCFE). The
MCFE exam is recognized by IFSEA and the American Hotel Lodging
Association (AHLA) and courses are taught by expert, Edward Manley,

African-American
history month was celebrated in Europe with Mongiello's helping in a special way!
Isn't that the way of today's settled immigrant to reach out and help others. We remember how hard it can be to get started. Even though Africans were
chained and brought here before most Italians came - the fact that we were
simply white - made our start that much easier. Did you see the TV show on the Vitaya channel or the TV Brussels channel?
Teaming with seven cultures histories and gifts, Chef Marti brought together a
wonderful sharing experience of the teamwork of America in New Orleans,
Louisiana. This first ever event was a team effort of Estilo
Productions and the well known European producer, Marc Boutsin.

Martin C.J. Mongiello
supports numerous charity functions and charities themselves. The vast
majority are via physical involvement and work with his hands and mind.
Getting a, "check written out," is just as important as, "getting involved with
hard work." Instead of celebrating Thanksgiving at home this year - why
not cook for a hundred in a shelter? Or, instead of Christmas and gifts -
how about playing Santa and visiting broken homes and needy homes in hard areas
with gifts and smiles? A number of them are The
American Culinary Federation
Chef and the
Child Foundation activities and cooking events that highlight the plight of
childhood hunger in America have been a lifelong pursuit of Chef Martin CJ
Mongiello. One in four children go hungry in America
each day. These include presentations of Chef Combo in
Japan to the Shunko Gakuen Orphanage, US DOD in Belgium,
the Connecticut and
Maryland school systems in America. His involvement has also included
cooking shelter food for Senators, Congressmen and
Congresswomen during Childhood Hunger Day. Other events have included
personally assisting in
Federal donations of food to the United Way, Connecticut Food
Bank, The Manna
Food Bank of Florida, Aloha Harvest of Hawaii,
recipe development with Breedlove
and Share our Strength in excess
of $740,000.00 dollars. The Chef and the Child Foundation mission:
"To
address the dietary needs and nutrition education needs of and for children in
America; - to be "the voice and army of the American Culinary Federation
in its fight against childhood hunger in America." Chef Marti has
also worked on Taste of the Nation events with Chef Jaques Pepin and marched at
the first ever Childhood Hunger Day held in Washington, DC with Chef Paul
Prudhomme, Doctor Dean Ornish and Chef Ann
Cooper. In 2005 Marti was a Celebrity
Judge for The Philly Cooks Competition along with Jeffrey Chodrow of the
Restaurant Show on NBC TV, Philadelphia Magazine, the Fretz Kitchens, Mercedes
Benz, Gallo Wines, Chefs Jean-Marie
Lacroix, Joseph Poon, Brian Sikora of Django, Santé Magazine’s Elaine Khosrova,
Food Network’s Bill Boggs, Saveur Magazine’s Roger Morris, Cynthia Teixeira of
Williams-Sonoma, and Fer.Vor Magazine’s Leigh Donadieu to help raise over
$150,000.00 for MANNA. Whether
making rice cakes in Tokyo for
the poor, cooking for thousands a day, giving up a Thanksgiving dinner to make
one for the poor in a Norfolk, Virginia shelter or in teaching nutrition to
children with his friendly puppet, "Chef Combo," Marti keeps busy!
The
US Directory of Chefs for Special Nutrition Partnerships in the schools of
America listed Marti as inspiring children about food choices that promote health.
At other times, Chef Marti has been found giving back to younger Chefs at the
Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Miami and the Art Institute of Colorado Denver, Colorado,
USA. Giving to the students of the world -
Marti and
Christopher Mathis donated time for free, conducted cooking demonstrations and addressed the largest
university system in United States on this occasion.
