The name Mongiello was recently selected to accompany one million names sent into space by NASA.  The selected names were digitally embedded on a microchip and launched into space onboard the Stardust Satellite.  Only, exactly, one million names were selected in America from millions of names available.  Our name is on microchip number two.  Stardust has less than 700 days left in space before she returns to America!  Click on the red icon or logo above to visit the website at NASA.

Vesta Mongiello (born in 1652) was an apprentice of the famous font designer, Nicolo Adachi.  Vesta showed talent well ahead of his time, despite being afflicted with a physical deformity and, later, the plague.  He completed a scholarly and accurate set of block, Gothic letters.  This included his refinement of them and are often seen today if you are watching the Detroit Tigers play baseball.  Just take note of their shirts or ball caps and you will be taking note of Mongiello work.  Another famous font of his is named, "Senatore."  Made in 1685 in the town of Verona it was based against a design of Adachi's, "Selano roman."

Reverand Mongiello: 1946 Program for Testimonial Dinner Program of Rev. Mongiello, MA was recently found.  This is a program for a Testimonial Dinner in Honor of Reverend Nicola Mongiello, dated Thursday, February 21, 1946, located in the Hotel Richmond Blue Room.  His photo is on program front.  The occasion was Rev. Mongiello leaving St. Anthony Church, in North Adams.  North Adams is in Massachusetts, Berkshire County.  He was born in 1885 in Montemarano, Avellino, Italy, the son of Nunzio Mongiello and Giovanni Riccardelli.  He was adorned as a Priest in 1908 and served with the Italian army in WW1.  Emigrating to the US in 1920, he was in Troy, NY, (Albany and Rensselaer County) Bayonne, NJ (Hudson County) and Mahoneytown, PA which is a town we cannot find in any records.  He came to help Reverend William Lattanzi in North Adams MA in 1922, taking over the church when he died.  Speakers were Michael Scarpitto, Hon. Herbert B. Clark (Herbert Clark), and John N. Alberti (John Alberti).  Guests were: Rev. Charles Delnotaro, Rev. E.P. Dunphy, Rev. George Gagnon, Rev. E.D. Gravel, Rev. Albert T. Beaudry (Albert Beaudry), Rev. Raphael A. Posco (Raphael Posco), Rev. Armando Russo, Mayor Cornelius E. O'Brien (Cornelius O'Brien), Richard Anketell, Frank Bond, Carolina Coscia, Joseph DeVito, John Flaherty, George Flood, Frans Fonteyn, Churchill Francis, George Higgins, James Hunter, John Magenis, Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Mongiello, Mr. & Mrs. John Mongiello, Miss Sophie Mongiello, William O'Hearn, Joseph Roach, Chief John Saulnier and James Wall.
